Massey Ferguson
Massey Ferguson is a brand of AGCO Corporation, one of the world leaders in the design, development and manufacture of agricultural machinery. Massey Ferguson's superb line-up offers machines to suit every type of agricultural operation in all parts of the world. Tractors, harvesting machinery, implements, municipal and garden machinery and materials handling equipment all bear the Massey Ferguson hallmarks of top performance, reliability, durability, operator comfort and uncompromising build quality.
The history of the company goes back to 1847 when Daniel Massey opened a workshop to build simple farm implements in Newcastle, Ontario, Canada. A decade later - also in Ontario - Alanson Harris established a foundry to make and repair farm machinery. These two companies merged in 1891, and Massey-Harris was later responsible for producing the world's first commercially successful self-propelled combine in 1938.
Harry Ferguson was a brilliant engineer based in England. He brought about a major change in tractor design with his revolutionary three-point-linkage system that allowed both tractor and implement to work as an integrated unit. Today, virtually all tractors are based in some way on his unique ideas.
Massey-Harris merged with Harry Ferguson in 1953 and brought together their twin skills in harvesting machinery and tractor design to produce one of the world's most powerful forces in farm equipment. The company adopted the name Massey Ferguson in 1958.
In 1995, Massey Ferguson was purchased by the US-based AGCO Corporation. Since then, it has continued to grow its brand, and now accounts for more than half of AGCO Corporation's sales, with a large share of the market across the world.
Massey Ferguson continues to keep up with technological advances in farming, and still offers all the reliability, comfort and quality it did in the beginning. With such a reputable and trusted heritage, and a wide range of quality products, it is easy to see why Massey Ferguson is the most widely sold tractor in the world.
